Francisco Medina was born in Zacatecas, Zac. Mexico Oct. 4, 1976.  He took his first art course at the age of 10 at the Biblioteca Mauricio Magdaleno in the city of Zacatecas.  From 1989 to 1993 he was a member of TAPLAS,  taller de artes plasticas at the Universidad Autonoma de Zacatecas, working in ceramics, silografia, hand made paper, drawing and painting.  During this time he exhibited his art regularly with the independent painting group “Tlalneztli” in various spaces in Zacatecas  and surrounding area.
In 1991 he worked in the graphics workshop “Julio Ruelas” studying the techniques of agua fuerte, lithography etc.  From 1993 to 1996 he studied
architecture at the Instituto Technologico of Zacatecas and participated  in many courses, workshops and seminars conducted by maestros of the
San Carlos National Academy of Art.  In 2006 he attended the seminar on appreciation ,  theory and critique of contemporary art directed by the
director of the National Arts Center, obtaining his diploma from the National System of Art Promoters, CNCA.
